Thanks! We have family in the Maritimes (in PEI and in NS not far from Shubie Park actually).

I'm glad to hear it gets easier. No doubt I will write about our first camping experience, hopefully later this summer.

My twins are now just about 13 years old. When they were younger, we lived for a time in Newfoundland where we had the opportunity to allow them explore nature very often. Before that, we lived in Halifax, NS and used to visit Shubie Park on almost a daily basis in the summer. They had wonderful paths and trails and the kids knew The Rules: You do not leave the path. You stay in sight at all times. You do not talk to strangers without your mother present.

What I did find that kept them busy is feeding the ducks and squirrels. We could sit by the lake for hours and just feed the animals. The kids loved it and were always fascinated when wee creatures came to them and trusted them enough to nibble food from their fingers (and yes, sometimes their fingers, too!).

Anyway, I`m blathering on far too long. Getting out in nature *is* a great thing, but it *is* almost impossible until they're at least 4 or 5, simply because they *will* run off in different directions and the thought of losing one or both is horrifying.

It really does get better, I promise.
